Game: Call of Duty Black Ops
Genre: first person shooter, action, war
The game I am reviewing is Call of Duty Black
Ops, the game was developed by Trayarch and published by Activation, the game
sold more than 5.6 million copies within 24 hours which breaks the record set
by Morden Warfare 2. Only after 6 weeks of the game being released Activation
reports to have made over 1 billion US dollars.
Genre
Call of Duty Black Ops is a first-person
shooter that is based in the war around 1960. The genre has a large audience
because nowadays a lot of platform users play first person shooters and war
games.
Story
The story of the game is set in 1960s during
the cold war you follow SAD agent/ operative Alex Mason. He attempts to recall
memories in combat in order to locate a number station, the missions are set
out in various locations such as Cuba, Russia, United States, Kazakhstan, Hong
Kong Vietnam and the Arctic Circle, he tries to recall these events so he can
answer the questions that the unknown capturers are asking him from a room
looking down to where he is strapped down in a chair.
Platforms
the game was released on nearly every platform
from Xbox 360 to a mobile version of the game, the game was released on the 9th
of November 2010 for Microsoft windows, PlayStation, Xbox 360, Wii console and
a separate version made by n-space for the DS.
Characters
The main character in the game is Alex Mason who
is a SAD operator/ agent and you can also play as the Red Army and Viktor
Reznoz in one mission. Viktor Reznoz is a Russian solider that Mason sees at
random time throughout the campaign, Viktor makes mason do things for him, it
turns out Viktor is actually in mason’s imagination and he looks like a mental
person. The Red Army are the Russian soldiers who are fight in the cold war.
Gameplay
The game is simple to play and the main
controls are the left and right triggers that are used to shoot and aim. The
game has multiple game modes that are there for players to explore and find the
one they are best at. The game has a single player mode which is the campaign,
there is a multiplayer mode which is a player VS player mode where you fight
against each other to get a win. There is also a zombie’s mode that is a 4player
game mode that you use in game points to buy guns to survive as many rounds as
you can on your own or with a group of people. The controls are really easy to
learn and get used to, so you can get good at the game just as quick as
everyone else.
Rating
There are some of the ratings made by companies that reviewed the game,
I will rate the game for all the aspects that I have written about above.
I rate the accuracy to the genre 10/10 because it has all the features that will show the player that the game is a first person shooter, war and action game.
I rate the story 9/10 as it has a very interesting storyline which makes the player feel attached to the characters and makes the player want to play more as the story builds and you gain stronger feelings and connections to the characters and their stories.
I rate the platforms they used to realise the game on 10/10 because they managed to realise it on every console ( Xbox, PS4),PC,DS and Wii.
I rate the characters 9/10 because it is easy for the player to get attached to the characters and create a bond with them that helps with the storyline but there are some improvements that they could have made to make it clearer that some characters are just imaginary.
I rate the overall gameplay 10/10 because it had everything form campaign to multiplayer to zombies which was an original idea made only for call of duty. it also doesn't get boring over time so it has a long life for gamers to play it.
