- c) production process
- d) characters
- e) gameplay
- f) target audience
- g) platforms
b) Production process:The pixelated style takes away a lot of the realism that the game might have had so they had to find a way to bring a feeling of realism to the game. The use of the sound effects brings in the realism; footsteps, smashing of glass, etc, were all produced or downloaded by the creator. None of these sounds were especially realistic but it makes the game more real than it would've been without it.The music used in the game creates a sense of urgency and makes the player feel as if there is more to the game than just runing and jumping, like there is something to lose if they die.Saltmans main idea for the game was to create something enjoyable that almost everyone can play. With the games simple mechanics to it, the game is easy to grasp for almost all ages.
c) Characters: the main character in the game is a man that has a good paying job which we can identify by the suit he is wearing and also the location he is in (the city). based on the fact he is able to run very fast and jump a great distance from one building from another shows that he is young, fit an has a lot of energy because he is able to run and jump for ever, based on this i would say the man is aged around 20- 25 with a history of sport, he has most likely been to university and has a degree.
d) Gameplay: the gameplay for this game was very much enjoyable with a very fast past and exhilarating experience. the game make you have a small adrenaline rush because of the intensity of the game. i felt as if the game was repetitive and that the game needed levels instead of a constant run. the music makes the game very exciting to play as it makes the player feel more invested and involved in the game. The creators of the game added in little obstacles which make the game harder because you have to avoid them as well as jump the gap between two buildings.
e)Target audience: The target audience is around 8-25 i would say this because if someone is bored at work they are able to play this to past the time, because of the simplicity of the game (you press one button) it is easy for young people to play the game but it does need some aspect of skill because you need to avoid obstacles such as boxes.
f) platform: originally released in flash on saltsman's website, recently the game has been imported to platforms such as IOS, android, steam, playstation platform, ouya and the chrome website, the game is featured over many different platforms and it is in many game website which allow you to play multiple games such as Donkey Kong and Canabalt

Donkey Kong:a) genre: Donkey Kong is a game made for the genre 'jump and run platformer'
b) narrative/story: the story behind Donkey Kong is that he is lovestruck and he finds the prettiest girl around ( the princess) and takes her to the top of a construction site, where her boyfriend the carpenter comes to save her.
c) production process:
Pre-Production:In the beginning the director of Donkey Kong Shigeru Miyamoto had hoped to have made a game based on Popeye. But Nintendo were unable to secure the license for Popeye. As a result of this, Nintendo had decided upon the idea based off of King Kong.
Production:He wanted a story to be told on screen in a way that could instantly be grasped by players, hence the cutscene showing the ape climbing the scaffolding and escaping. This also allowed a multi-stage design to be created. The desire to see new levels rather than repeating the same one over and over would make players want to compete for the highest score possible.
Post-Production:Miyamoto got asked to give the game an English title so people in the UK and USA could understand. He knew very little English, so when he tried to look up a word which would convey the ape’s stubbornness, he came up with “Donkey Kong”. The game made over $280,000,000 worth of sales in its first 2 years.
d) characters: Mario: Mario is an Italian carpenter (unknown carpenter at the time)Donkey Kong: an ape that is a villain princess: who the player has to savee) Gameplay: the aim of the game is to run up to the ladders avoiding the barrels from hitting you and killing you. you have to run across the scaffolding avoiding obstacles, then to get to Donkey Kong who throws the barrels at you, after you have managed to reach the princess to save her you proceed to the next level where you do the same thing just harder.
e) target audience:the target audience for Donkey Kong is 6-16 and male, this could be because the main character is male. the game may possibly target men who are interested in games with an engaging storyline. This is because Donkey Kong is regarded one of the earliest games with a true narrative.
f) platforms: Arcade. (Atari, Amstrad CPC, Game Boy Advance etc). Now available on PC (Flash).

c)production process:
pre-production:
Ubisoft already had made many "Tom Clancy's" games including Vagus 1 and 2, so they had the safty net for the game at the star of creating the game.
d) characters:
there are many characters in Rainbow 6, you have the terrorists and the bomb squad which are both online players. All the characters have different abilities which can be used for the advantage. you can pick any character you want to play with. the game as a whole does not really have a story behind each character you only get a cut scene to show what their special ability is.
e) the target audience for this game is for people 18-30 because the controls take time to learn and can be know to be difficult because the competitiveness of the game, i say the target audience for this game is 18-30 because the game is based on terrorism, which could be seen as a problem because the player has to know that what they are trying stop (a bomb) is bad, the game also has missions with hostages in which would make the game inappropriate for younger players.
